Errors

Every refusal has one shape. Act on the code: it never changes. The message is for a person, and may.

The shape of an error

{
  "error": {
    "code": "insufficient_balance",
    "message": "This file costs $18.00 USD but your balance is $4.50 USD. Please add funds.",
    "request_id": "req_7f3c9a12",
    "docs_url": "https://docs.talismanleads.io/errors#insufficient_balance"
  }
}

Quote the request_id if you contact support. Every answer also carries it as a Request-Id header.

Every code

The request is not one the API understands: the message says why. Fix it before sending it again.
POST /orders needs a valid Idempotency-Key header: up to 200 ASCII characters with no spaces.
A line in the list is not what the checker takes. The message shows examples.
This checker needs more entries per file.
The list is too long: up to 100,000 entries in a request, or 10,000,000 in an upload.
The file is over 200 MB.
The country you sent does not match the numbers in the list.
A file must hold numbers from one country. Split it into one file per country.
That upload_id is not one of yours, its file has not finished uploading, or its file is gone (an upload waits 24 hours for an order). If you already ordered from this upload and lost the answer, repeat that request with its original key. Otherwise upload the file again and order with a new key: nothing was placed under the old one.
The file changed after it was priced. Nothing was placed. Upload it again and order with a new key.
The price is too old to use. Repeat the request with the same Idempotency-Key.
The key is missing, wrong, or not one of ours.
This key has been revoked. Use another.
This key is past its date. Make a new one.
Your balance is too low for this order. Top up, then repeat it with the same key.
This key has been blocked. Contact support.
This key is held to other IP addresses.
This account cannot use the API. Contact support.
API access is turned off for this account. The website still works. Contact support.
This key is read only, and this call needs a key that can place orders.
This checker is not open to your account right now. See GET /checkers.
Your address has been blocked. Contact support.
There is no such order or endpoint on this account.
This key was used with a different request. Use a new key for a new order.
The price is not the one you expected, or has changed since the key was first sent. Nothing was placed. Use a new key to order at the new price.
The request is over 4 MB. Use POST /uploads for a large list.
You have too many uploads waiting (20 files or 100 MB), or have made too many today (500). Order from one, or try again later: an upload is removed after 24 hours.
You are over a rate limit. Wait for the seconds in Retry-After. On an order, repeat it with the same key. See Rate limits.
You have too many unfinished orders. Wait for the seconds in Retry-After, then repeat the order with the same key.
Something went wrong on our side. On POST /orders the order may have gone through, so repeat the request with the same Idempotency-Key: it never charges twice. On any other call, try again, or contact support with the request_id.
The API is switched off for now. Try again later. On an order, repeat it with the same key.
The API cannot answer right now. Wait a minute and repeat the request with the same key.
We could not confirm the order. Repeat the request with the same Idempotency-Key to learn its true state: it never charges twice. If it keeps answering this for more than a few minutes, stop and contact support with the request_id. Do not make a new key.
